Torah Pearls – Pekudei – Exodus 38:21-40:38 – Nehemia Gordon & Keith Johnson
How should we respond to the replication and/or fabrication of Tabernacle items in places of meeting today? What on earth is “carbuncle”? The Aaronic Priesthood is the everlasting priesthood, so what exactly is a Kohen and is there another “order” of priests? Where is the “Shekinah Glory” today? All this and more in this week’s Torah Pearls!
Join us for this year’s Tanakh Tour of Israel!

I really enjoy your program. I also enjoy the humor. One thing I would like to be added is an explanation of the name of each portion. Thanks to all of you. Shalom Alechem
OK, who’s Ralph? What’s the joke.. lol
Hey Great!!!! it started off a little boring but then got to the GLORY HalleluYAH. The revelation of the Shechinah as the simple way i heard it “His Name Yehovah indwelling-abiding within us HalleluYAH!!! Notice in Ezekiel Chapter 11 begining at verse 16; Therefore says Yehovah Elohim allthough i have cast them far off among the gentiles and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet I shall be a little sanctuary (holy place) for them in the countries where they have gone. Therefore say, “Thus says Yehovah Elohim, I will gather you from the peoples, assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered and I will give you the land of Israel. And they will go there and take away all its detestable things and all its abominations from there. Then I will give them one heart and I will put a new Spirit within them and take the stony heart out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my judgements and DO THEM, and they shall be my People, and I will be their Elohim. HalleluYAH!!!! The additional information about the Malki-Tzedek was Great and will share from that Revelation later. Yehovah hu ha Elohim!!!!!!!
In my Jerusalem Bible, 2 Sam 8:18 says sons of David were ministers of state, in Hebrew it says cohenim;
and Ps 110: 4 says “manner of Malki-zedeq”, and in Hebrew, devrati/word of Malki-zedeq.
Thank you for explaining ‘shekinah’, Nehemia.
Thank you Jono and Keith. Shalom!
When I want to listen to a teaching on here, I really don’t enjoy the bantoring that takes place at the beginning. I just want to listen to the teaching. Is there any way to edit that off before you post the teachings on here? Thanks!
This was great once again – so many things to think about. I was really struck by something that wasn’t discussed! That Moses erected the entire tabernacle BY HIMSELF in ONE DAY. That was pretty amazing to me. HE set the bases, HE hung the curtains, etc. The levites didn’t (or couldn’t) help him, and then once HE had done it all, HE couldn’t even go in! Wow. Is that some kind of parallel to how he led the children of Israel for all 40 years and then he couldn’t go into the promised land? Hmmm……
One thing which comes to mind about Goyim (Christians) focusing on the Tabernacle rather than the Temple is: The Temple is very Jewish….
The Tabernacle seems less Jewish because it started in the wilderness, not in the land. There were also a number of Egyptians tagging along with the Israelites so it seem less “Jewish” and Christians do not want to be identified as Jewish.
I was a “Christian.” Now I am strictly Torah observant and I reject the notion of Jesus being “The Messiah” or “Savior.” and I and my family have been rejected by all of our Christian friends and family. How interesting….
I thank you so much for Torah Pearls. As I’ve studied in the past and walked out my understanding I often thought YAHOVAH was connecting dots so that I could see the picture. As I began studying and walking in Torah it was as if YAHOVAH was coloring in that picture, making it more clear and enjoyable. As I listen and follow Torah Pearls each pearl has made the topic become 3D for me. I truly look forward to Sabbot and following your teaching. Thank you.
Would it be possible to start the Torah Portions with the prayer of opening our eyes and minds to what is with in the Torah.
Jono,
I am trying to recall the last time I heard the Name of Yeshua in your radio talkshow but I can’t. Interesting.
G’day Nick, how is it “interesting” ? It’s the Torah Portion, it’s not a New Testament study nor is it an exercise in selected attention 😉
I only needed to raise the flag, brother. Yeshua is all over the Scripture. Besides, some already rejected Him (see a couple of boxes above).
Nick, just curiously, what does it say on your “flag”?
“Raise/wave the flag” means to draw one’s attention. That’s all.
Shalom,
Be in peace!
I’m just now listening to this portion, so I can’t make commentary on the teaching at this moment. However, I was scrolling through the comments and was reminded of something I was going to comment on before and didn’t.
I LOVE listening to you guys. I love your bantering. I love your laughing and joking and enjoying one another and just being yourselves. I actually catch myself smiling or chuckling out loud sometimes. It makes me happy.
Thank you for making me smile and teaching me wonderful things at the same time. I consider it a privilege.
And thank you for continuing to just be yourselves.
While discussing Ch.40:2 what the time frame may have been for the completion of the Tabernacle. If you note Ch.40:17 It seems pretty clear It was completed on the first day and month of the second year.
Love your show!
What Shelley said.
love your jokes and banter at the beginning. Love the whole show, thanx guy’s.
Thanks for going into depth regarding the priesthood and Melchezidek (sp?)… soooo interesting, thanks for shedding some light on the topic.
Oh Yehovah Avinu- thank you for continuing to create in us a distaste and disgust for the “fabricating” and an intense hunger and desire for the real dwelling of “Your tangible presence in us”. Let your name Yehovah dwell richly in us AMEN
I LOVE the bantering in the beginning, the middle and the end. I think it’s the mark of fellowship, not irreverence.
Shabbat Shalom!! I was just wondering if there is a transcript of the teachings somewhere??
