Torah Pearls – Devarim – Deuteronomy 1:1-3:22 – Nehemia Gordon & Keith Johnson
Yehovah your God has multiplied you, and here you are today, as the stars of heaven in multitude. May Yehovah God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you! – Deuteronomy 1:10-11

Awesome stuff, once again! Thank you!
Quick question, to make sure I heard correctly. The son of the stranger who attaches himself to Yehovah’s covenant chooses which tribe he is attached to?
Fascinating and informative as usual–interesting that the importunate widow begging the ‘Unjust Judge’ who feared not God nor man, in Luke 18:1-8 was granted her petition because of her perseverance. Backstopping what Nehemia pointed out about keeping faith and not giving up on God.
Our family would like to thank you all for your time and talents. The Torah Pearls have been eye opening as the prayer ask for it to be.
You guys are great! Don’t ever change a thing.
When any Human joins themselves onto YHVH they are ISRAEL.
there is only ONE TREE and wild & natural branches who dont believe can be grafted into again!
Shalom Ye All,
We just thank you for all three of you getting together to teach Torah! Awesome!! We are learning so much and you make it so easy to understand. May YHVH bless you with more wisdom and understanding , abundance of joy, and blessings.
Shalom to you all. I am behind in listening because I only found out about this a few weeks ago. But I want to share Yah’s faithfulness with you. I was having a hard time today dealing with an ongoing trial that I am believing Yah for deliverance. I was encouraged greatly by Nehemia’s comment about the Israeli army’s saying about not giving up and holding on longer than your enemy. Thank you guys for your faithfulness in producing these programs.
I’m probably the last one to listen to todays lesson – busy summer! But I will listen to every single one that you have recorded – I learn so much even after studying the Scriptures for 30 yrs. Please keep it up – we out here need this kind of study and encouragement. I love you guys & wd love to go to Israel w/ you if I’m able. You’re programs show that you put some time into these lessons – you don’t just get on the air and wing it. Again, thank you, may Yehovah bless you in every way in your lives.

Shalom Jono,
By the way, I mean that sincerely! I’d like to express my thanks for this comment section for it gives a voice to the small guy like me. It’s not my purpose here to be contentious but rather to voice alternate views when I hear things on the program that I wholeheartedly disagree with. Today is one such day, I believe Deuteronomy (second law) is actually The Second Covenant, THE NEW COVENANT! Without taking the time to document why I believe it as such let me say quickly I see that on Mt. Sinai there were two separate covenants entered into, The 10 Words Covenant and The 1st Marriage Covenant. Due to the rebellious hearts of the Israelites YHWH divorces Israel in Numbers 14, thereby ‘terminating’ the marriage via the 1st marriage covenant. In the book of Deuteronomy we then see YHWH proposing a 2nd marriage covenant 40 years later, i.e. THE NEW COVENANT. The ‘terms’ of that covenant are written in chapters 6 – 28. The reiteration of The 10 Words Covenant in chapter 5 stands as a foundation for the 2nd marriage covenant just as it did for the 1st marriage covenant. When we are told that the kings of Israel were to write a hand written copy of The Book of The Covenant or that Joshua was to write the words of The Book of The Covenant on the altar on Mt. Ebal or that The Book of The Covenant discovered by Hilkiah the High Priest during the reign of Josiah we should in fact understand the phrase ‘The Book of The Covenant’ to mean ‘The Book of Deuteronomy’. It was also The Book of Deuteronomy which was placed outside the Ark of The Covenant by the Levites. The 10 Words Covenant was inside and the 2nd marriage covenant was on the outside. I believe that Joshua and the Israelites crossed the Jordan river via THE NEW COVENANT of Deuteronomy. 15 years later in Joshua 24 the Israelites finally enter into THE NEW COVENANT and all the Scriptural books from Deuteronomy to Revelation should be read in the light of the Israelites being New Covenant believers. Understanding The Book of Deuteronomy as The Book of THE NEW COVENANT provides a perfect opportunity to correctly discern the meaning of the parable of The 10 Virgins. Give it a Berean hearing…

When reading this Torah portion, I noticed that “Yehovah OUR Elohim” and “Yehovah YOUR Elohim” are written throughout. Just wondering why it’s “our” in some places and “your” in others. Any ideas? Thank you and shalom!
