You guys seem to have no fear of hell at all do you? Hehe
Thanks for the great discussions Rabbi Skobac and Jono!
I have a teenage daughter who was struggling, understandably, with her faith because of our complex journey from Christianity and the Messianic movement to accepting Judaism.
Her Christian peers recently invited her to church which resulted in a truly awakening experience. For the past 7 years we have been concentrating our studies on the Hebrew Tanakh as a family. During the church service our daughter told us that she literally wanted to stand on her seat to challenge the words of the Christian preacher because of her understanding of the Torah, but she kept her composure.
Incredibly, our daughter came home very much at peace with her faith in the Hebrew Tanakh. Through the experience she realized that she could respectfully and tactfully interact with her Christian friends, yet appreciate and understand that the Torah of her Creator had graciously been instilled in her heart.
Psalms 119:29 Remove from me the way of falsehood; and grant me Thy Torah graciously.
Psalms 119:165 Great peace have they that love Thy Torah; and there is no stumbling for them.
Since there is no “devil” or no “hell” why should they have a fear of some mythical boogie man? There is only one G-d and He is righteous and just. If there is a place of purification where people are confronted with their mistakes, it is not a permanent “hell” — and it most certainly not a place someone would be sent for exercising their G-d given intelligence.
